Aloha Community Partner/Key Stakeholder:

You are invited to a Partners and Stakeholders meeting to discuss Health in All Policies (HIAP) on October 23rd, from 9:00am to 11:00am at the State Capitol in room #325. The meeting will focus on addressing climate change and health in a collaborative environment--see the preliminary meeting agenda below and attached.

The mission of the Hawai'i Public Health Association (HPHA) is to promote public health in Hawaii through leadership, collaboration, education and advocacy, and our vision is health equity in Hawaii and the Pacific and a strong public health workforce able to effectively respond to health challenges. HPHA is a local association of community members, public health professionals and organizations dedicated to improving public health. With over 600 members statewide and a 69-year history, HPHA serves as a voice for public health professionals and as a source of information about public health in the Pacific.

In 2013, HPHA’s leadership began discussing the public health response to climate change and its impacts on health, recognizing that our local, state and national governments and community collective efforts have the potential to affect health and health equity. We are inviting you to join us for a discussion on climate change and its impact on health in Hawaii.

We recognize that there are many individuals and organizations that are committed to similar goals, and we want to keep this meeting as open and inclusive as possible, with the following objectives:
1. Learn more about and develop partnerships with other key stakeholders and what they and/or their organization is doing to address climate change and health;
2. Identify data, key resources and sources of information to become better informed on this issue for future sharing;
3. Discuss collaborative policy actions that are planned/pending relating to climate change.

We look forward to seeing you on October 23.
