Dear HPHA members and friends,
The Hawai‘i Medical Journal is a 68-year old monthly publication about healthcare in Hawai‘i and the Pacific. Dr. Kalani Brady, who has been Editor for the past 3-1/2 years, is joined by Dr. Norm Goldstein, Editor Emeritus, Dr. Alan Tice, Associate Editor, and a small editorial staff to bring to you a stimulating compilation of articles of critical relevance and importance to the health field of the Hawai‘i-Pacific region.
While many Journal articles have been contributed by the faculty at John A. Burns School of Medicine at University of Hawai‘i over the years, the publication looks forward to expanding its role to encompass a broader range of input from health professionals, especially with the challenges we face for healthcare reform and teamwork.
Recently, HMJ has transitioned from a print-only version to an electronic format, allowing wider dissemination with minimal cost. Print editions are still available for a fee. With the debut of this electronic version, we would like to take this opportunity to extend an invitation to receive free monthly electronic issues of the Journal. Simply subscribe through the Hawai‘i Medical Journal website at http://www.hawaiimedicaljournal.org/subscribe. Here you may also access prior editions. We are currently cataloging PDF files of our Journal since its inception in 1941. For the August issue of HMJ, we are particularly proud to provide a special supplement commemorating the 40th anniversary of transplants in Hawai‘i.
We welcome your feedback as well as participation in the ongoing evolution of the Journal. If you are interested in submitting an article, please see the criteria established by the Journal editorial board and the National Library of Medicine. The Hawai‘i Medical Journal has been in the collection of the NLM since 1962.
Your questions and comments may be sent to our Production Manager, Drake Chinen at firstname.lastname@example.org for editorial submissions, Meagan Calogeras at email@example.com for subscription inquiries, and firstname.lastname@example.org for other inquiries.
We look forward to your input and participation in making health care as good as it can be in Hawai‘i and the Pacific Rim.
